The 72%
Did you know that women represent 72% of Canadians living with Alzheimer’s disease?
That’s because women live longer than men and age is the biggest risk factor. Are you one of the 72%?
Do you know someone who is?
January is Alzheimer Awareness Month. We’re asking Canadians to learn about the 10 warning signs and share them with their mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters and friends.
Have you noticed any of these signs in yourself or someone you care about? Talk to your doctor. Early diagnosis allows you to get the help you need and plan for the future.
Reduce your risk
Are you concerned about developing Alzheimer’s disease? You can lower your risk – even later in life. Eat a healthy diet. Do more physical activity. Challenge your brain. Stay connected with family and friends. Quit smoking. Keep your diabetes and blood pressure in check.
Don’t face this disease alone – we’re here to help
Alzheimer Societies across Canada provide support throughout the progression of the disease so you or someone you care about can live as well as possible. Get support at an Alzheimer Society near you.
