The 2010 Manulife Walk for Memories: Make it a Walk to Remember

LONDON, ON, May 3, 2010 – Every five minutes someone in Canada develops Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. In London and Middlesex alone, over 7000 people have been diagnosed with the disease. By participating in the 2010 Manulife Walk for Memories, you can help stop this tragic disease from affecting increasing numbers of Canadians.

The 2010 Manulife Walk for Memories has particular urgency this year with recent news of the escalating numbers of people with dementia and the potentially crippling effect on Canadian families, the healthcare system and the economy.

The London walk is one of 56 walks being held around Ontario to fund counselling, support and education programs for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. The Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex™ provides educational and support programs for people with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers, as well as professionals, paraprofessionals, students, volunteers, healthcare providers and the general public.
