First Link

The Alzheimer Society of London and Middlesex (ASLM) is pleased to offer First Link, a program which connects individuals newly diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia (ADRD) and their family to a community of learning, services and support throughout the continuum of the disease.

The Learning Series is one of the many First Link programs offered at ASLM. The five courses in the Learning Series are progressive, with each one building upon the other to provide participants with a comprehensive overview of dementia, coping strategies, resources and support systems.

Through the First Link Learning Series, participants have the opportunity to learn and share with others who are affected by dementia.

First Steps for People with Dementia and Caregiver

This series helps individuals newly diagnosed with a dementia and their family members understand the diagnosis and the changes they experience. This series also offers participants the opportunity to share and connect with others embarking on a similar journey.

This series offers an overview of dementia to family members and caregivers. Participants have the opportunity to share and connect with others embarking on a similar journey.

Care Essentials

This series will offer family members and care partners of people with Alzheimer's disease problem solving and communication strategies. This series will also offer participants avenues for support, all of which can strengthen their ability to provide care.

Options for Care

This series will help family members and care partners of people with Alzheimer's disease evaluate their current caregiving needs and explore other possible care options available, including long term care.

Care in Later Stages

This series will help family members and are partners of people with Alzheimer's disease understand what to expect in the later stages of dementia. This series will also explore how participants can provide comfort to the person with dementia as well as review the experience of grief and loss.
